ASB Obtains ISO Certificate |
Labuan: Minister of resources Development
and Information Technology Tan Sri Joseph Kurup commended the Asian Supply
Base Sdn. Bhd. for being the third in the country to achieve the internationally-recognised
ISO: 9001-2000 from the Norwegian classification agency Det Norske Veritas
AS Sdn. Bhd. He hoped ASB would not rest on laurels but strive for further improvement. Speaking at the presentation of the certificate for the 1984-established Sabah-owned ASB which is a 108-acre sprawling one-stop logistic supply base for the oil and gas industry, Kurup said, "there heavy responsibilities under the certification as such ASB should ensure that it was at all time committed to what it was doing with sound and practical policies in place and having the human resources, equipment and infrastructure." "To achieve the classification is difficult and it is made more difficult when it is revoked after a review to regain it." He said. On how the ASB could further improve on its quality, Kurup said the management of the company should have a system to analyse and review its operations and service. Kurup also stressed the need for ASB to maintain all its records, documentation in such a manner which could be readable and understood by the staff. Earlier, the chief executive officer and general manager of ASB Harris Hj. Annuar Tan thanked the board of directors, staff and other for helping ASB to achieve the certificate. |
