LABUAN, Thurs, -  Labuan Corporation (LC) Chief Executive Officer Datuk Mohd. Noor Moktar has welcomed the appointment of local M Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman as Chairman of the LC's powerful Board of Directors.

"On behalf of the management and staff of LC, we fully support Suhaili's appointment and would cooperate with him to ensure he will make a marked difference in leading LC," he said. He hoped the appointment of a local as head of LC would not end with Suhaili.

"The Fedeal Government should maintain such trend because it is a known fact that the people of Labuan have always wanted LC to be headed by a local resident. The appointment of Suhaili is therefore a move in the right direction," he said.

Mohd Noor said although he is a civil servant and may not be able to very closely follow the new chairman in some occasions, he would nevertheless be very supportive of him.

He added that his posting here as LC CEO was also largely due to Suhaili's effort and "we have worked well together over the past few years and we are familiar with each other's working style" - SOHAN DAS
