The formation of arts and cultural bodies in schools involving all races
will help to mould a national culture. Culture, Arts and Tourism Minister
Datuk Paduka Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir said such bodies should be
encouraged among all races so they could interact with each other.
"If we want to build a nation we know the basis of a community is
their culture, so we must hasten the building of the nation's
culture," he told reporters after meeting Puteri Umno's Culture and
Arts Bureau here Thursday. The meeting was aimed at discussing the
ministry's policies, its objectives and the level of their success. Abdul
Kadir asked the movement to promote art and cultural activities in edc=ucation
