There are four shipwrecks to explore within Labuan waters. Two are from World War II and others from the 1980’s. These ships lie in 100-115 feet (30-35m) of water, with their top portions at 25-70 feet (8-12m). Visibility varies greatly from season to season (and even day to day) from 20 feet (6m) to 70 feet (20m). We have adopted the names that these wrecks go by locally: ‘American’ Wreck, ‘Blue water’ Wreck, ‘Cement’ Wreck and ‘Australian’ Wreck.

The types of diving on these wrecks range from novice to ‘serious’ wreck diving with penetrations into the hulls. Introduction and wreck diving training courses leading to a PADI Wreck Diver specialty rating are also available.

Facilities include a complete range of rental equipment, compressors, and two 28ft x 7ft custom-built fiberglass dive boats, fitted with profiling depth sounders, GPS and powered by twin 65hp outboards. There is also a PADI 5-STAR DIVE CENTRE which has a retail dive shop (with duty-free prices!) and full classroom facilities. PADI courses from DISCOVER SCUBA to DIVE MASTER are available here.

The ‘CEMENT’ Wreck can be enjoyed by open water or novice divers who have done 20 or more open water dives. To dive the ‘BLUE WATER’ Wreck you must be an Advanced Diver deeper diving experience logged. However, if you wish to penetrate into the above two wrecks or to dive the ‘AMERICAN’ or ‘AUSTRALIAN’ Wreck, you must be a certified Wreck Diver or have logged experience in wreck diving.

Besides enjoying Wreck Diving, Reef Diving can also be enjoyed at Kuraman, Papan and Rusukan Islands.
